I need pin drop silence to fall asleep. If I sleep one minute less than 8 hours, I can be dangerous to you. Hunger makes me cranky and music pacifies my anger. I left my job because on a rainy day, I could not enjoy a cup of tea as I had to leave for office. I realized the worthlessness of earning all the money in the world but not able to enjoy a moment when I wanted to. Yes, I am super weird. People might call me crazy. Mad maybe.
“Don’t try to fit me in a box… My life is not one dimensional. I’m the summer breeze and the hurricane… I’m the serene lake and the raging ocean… I’m the gentle poet and the rough warrior… I can build and I can destroy… I can romance and I can ravage… I can be wise and I can be silly… I can and WILL be everything that the length, depth, and breadth of life will allow… KNOW THIS! Your labels don’t limit me… they limit your experience of me. Don’t confuse the two.”
― Steve Maraboli
Our personality is what we have formed over a number of years. It is an extension of the characteristics that we want to project out to the world. We create an image of ourselves and then spend our lives defending that image.
Society has a way to put everyone and everything in categories, good or bad, black or white. But, in our hearts we do realize that we are not white all the time. Sometimes, we do act out of greed, selfishness or nearsightedness. It is not necessarily a fault but we do seem to be different with different people at different times.
“What do you think of all this? Am I a friend or foe – or a little of each? Are the important things black and white, or maybe a little gray?”
― Svetlana Chmakova
We are ourselves a part of this system when we take less than a second to judge others. How quickly someone becomes a failure or backward or slow. When we judge do we think the same will be done to us? Would we like it then ?
Can we just let others think of us the way they desire? But can we at least accept ourselves for who we know we are? If you do not accept you for you, who else will? This is like saying that I am a shade of grey but I insist on calling myself white.
“No person is completely wicked, just as no person is perfect. We are all grey”
― Sweety Shinde
Yes, we all are grey. A little light grey or maybe dark grey. We are what we are because of our upbringing, our nurture and our nature. Each of us is defined by our life experiences and the shades of glasses we choose to view the world from. This makes us all a little different from one another.
Isn’t our world much more beautiful from the different colors we bring to it?
Embrace yourself for who you are, no matter how weird! Weird is beautiful !
